The Sonemat SHG1031-S and SHD1031-S EMATs are advanced Shear Horizontal (SH) wave transducers engineered for precise, non-contact inspections in challenging conditions. Utilising a Lorentz force mechanism, they generate high-sensitivity shear horizontal waves ideal for frequency-controlled scanning and detailed inspections on both thin sheets and thicker materials. With robust, durable construction and compatibility with Sonemat’s TBPR1000, HPP2000, and SAA1000 systems, these SH EMATs are optimised for applications requiring defect detection, corrosion monitoring, and preventive maintenance in industrial sectors.

Key Advantages and Features:

    • High-Sensitivity SH Wave Generation: Capable of generating guided SH waves with a standard 10 mm wavelength, these transducers offer effective defect detection and are optimized for operation around 300 kHz on steel.
    • Non-Contact and Couplant-Free: Requires no couplants or surface preparation, making them ideal for use on rough or inaccessible surfaces, such as corrosion-prone pipelines and structural supports.
    • Durable, Industrial-Grade Design: Built to withstand demanding environments with a metal wear face and Neodymium Iron Boride magnet array, the SHG1031-S and SHD1031-S provide lasting reliability in the field.
    • Broad Compatibility: Designed for seamless integration with Sonemat’s TBPR1000 Toneburst Pulser, HPP2000 High Power Pulser, and other compatible systems, these EMATs support pitch-catch and pulse-echo configurations.

Applications:

    • Corrosion monitoring in pipelines and tanks
    • Structural defect detection in hard-to-access or high-stress environments
    • Rail track inspections and thickness measurements
    • Robotic scanning systems for complex or repetitive inspections
